REPAIRS
DENT
REMOVAL
Students and professionals alike have had
the sickening experience of damaging their horns from time to time.
Or, maybe you purchased a used instrument that already came with
some damage. Brass is a soft material and a dent can often occur
much easier than we realize sometimes. Don’t be discouraged, with
the proper tools and techniques, this ugly dent can usually be
removed. In fact, it is amazing what can be done to restore your
instrument and get it looking good again.
SOLDERING
Whether it was from pulling too hard on a
stuck slide, a dropped instrument, or some other mishap, it is not
uncommon to find a brace that pops loose, or a slide that comes
unsoldered. This is something that should be taken care of quickly
so further damage is not done.
STUCK SLIDES or VALVES
There are many things that can cause a
slide to stick or valves not to work smoothly. Most often it is due
to a lack of cleaning and maintenance and/or damage to the
instrument. But regardless, this can usually be remedied. However,
trying to handle this on your own often leads to further damage. If
you are unable to get a slide loose or are having trouble with your
valves not working properly after basic oiling, etc. then don’t
force it. Many fine instruments have been ruined by applying too
much pressure.
AMADO
WATER KEY
If you would like to have an Amado water
key installed on your instrument, we can certainly do that for you.
These water keys are easy to use and maintain and have a distinct
improvement over traditional water keys with far less potential for
leakage and disruption to the air flow. Call for details.
